Now, What I Thought:

So, this book originally intrigued me because it was considered almost as good as, Susan Ee's Penryn and the End of Days trilogy, which is a huge compliment on Paula Weston. I can officially say that even though the storylines are completely different, I do agree with the comparison. This book was actually incredible! I loved how everything played out and the sequence of events were perfect. Everything happened at such a perfect time that it flowed so nicely. It was very well written and deserves a lot more hype. Weston is an Australian author and it was pretty difficult to get her books, considering I was greedy and ended up ordering them straight from Australia, so I could have them a year before they were published in Canada, where I am. LOL I know that's cheating a little but seriously, these books were so addictive and so much fun to read, I needed these books one after the other.

The energy between Gaby and Rafa is incredible. Since the first time she, thought, she met him till the end of the book, was just consistent non-stop electricity between the two. The big drama was that Gaby seemed to have this whole life before, where she can't seem to remember a single thing about it. She learns a lot about her 'true' self and how heartless this Gabe could be. The other mystery is her brother. What exactly happened to her twin brother if she can't trust this new life's memories? Is her brother really dead? Or was that just part of this non truthful life she's been living. So we definitely get to see the journey and trip from both Gaby and Rafa to find out, considering Rafa and Jude are best friends.

I liked how Weston played on the memory aspect in this series because it was interesting when we would hear about the two different, yet same physical person- Gaby and Gabe. I really liked that and it had a bit of a psychology theme to i, which I really enjoyed. It seemed to have brought more to the book then just an average YA angel novel. I really liked this book and I'm really excited to read what happens when Gaby gets her memories back, because it has to happen some day!

Now, What I Thought:

The writing style really intrigued me to keep on going with this book. It was almost like Juliette's mind was a diary and we were reading her scribbled notes and new ideas and aspirations. It was very cool and different from most novels, so that was one thing that really struck out to me. Tahereh Mafi definitely knows how to rip your heart out and shove back in while telling her story because this was absolutely touching and heartbreaking and the text really did connect with with me. As you could expect, Juliette starts off the book in a very dank and sad place mentally and physically. This dystopia world was cool to learn about considering humans are basically at the end of their leashes and are finally running out of earth's recourses, which many have actually predicted would happen. It almost had a 'realness' (?) to it and the text made it seem possible that this is what the world could come to... you know, except with magic bit.

Again, like I said before, you really do feel for Juliette because what happens physically to her affects her mentally and it's not easy living in a killer body, legit. Basically, all human contact with Juliette will kill the other person, as simple as it sounds. She's been in isolation and captivity from an unknown source for so long that she almost forgets about the other living humans on the outside. I loved the romance in this book. Mafi literally took the impossible and made it possible! She totally went into a different and twisted way with the romance and it was very much unexpected! Talk about a shock. When I was starting to figure out what exactly Mafi was doing with these characters I almost couldn't believe it because it was such a risky move to create that type of love. Yet, Mafi pulled it off and made me fall in love with some characters I didn't think I would in this first book.

This book was very well-written and mature that it didn't even feel like a YA paranormal dystopia romance you know? I was really impressed by this book and this series, in fact. It will be on my favourites for a while because the story about Juliette is just breathtaking and heartbreaking all at the same time!

Now, What I Thought:

Lets just put this into perspective for you guys, I read the sample and then bought this book at around 3am this morning and I then finished it at 7am this morning. Damn, that was quick. I could not put it down. It was so captivating and such a light, easy and fun read. Who doesn't want to read about sirens and then to turn it into a sad perspective on them as well? I think Cass wrote this book beautifully and I just loved that it was a stand-alone. I needed a book with a happy ending since I've been stuck on the gruesome, A Song of Ice and Fire (Game of Thrones), novels. This was much needed and I think you guys can tell how much I enjoyed this.

It was a cool concept on the whole siren/mermaid type thing. We automatically start off with our main character in the 50s where she's 19, the richest family on the ship they're on and beautiful. Her and her family start to hear this beautiful song with these beautiful voices and all of a sudden everyone is going overboard willingly, jumping to their deaths. Kahlen has the sense to plug her ears but even then that is not enough. She does, however, have enough time to see her family jumping to their deaths as well, damn. Distraught by that and a moment of distraction the voices reach her head again and she, too, jumps overboard. After coming to sense, she realizes she hasn't even lived yet, she's 19 and she wants to get married, live a life, have children etc. Well that seems to be the call for help because then she is soon pulled out of the water and given the chance for a life where she will not age, not get hurt, and stay beautiful for however long the Ocean says. As long as Kahlen feeds the Ocean that is, with humans. Shipwrecks. See where this is going? It doesn't take a genius to know what she picked, so Kahlen then turns into this beautiful Siren and rather abruptly, we get to chapter 2 where it is 80 years later. Dun Dun Dun....

So Kahlen seems to be with new and young sirens now, in the present. She's almost like there leader seeing as she's the oldest siren they know, or rather live with. It was cool how Cass tried to justify that killing people for the deemed 'evilness' of the Ocean was something good and to kill 200 is to save billions type of argument. Also that the Ocean, whenever She is mentioned in anyway, has to be capitalized. It was almost like the Ocean is a real living thing with a mind of Her own, which in this book She was. She could speak to the sirens, give them hugs and warm their hearts. The thing I found interesting though, was that Kahlen loved Her. Like really really loved Her and adored Her. I couldn't get that seeing as it was the Ocean Herself that killed Kahlen's family and forced Kahlen to live for about 80 years isolated and killing people on shipwrecks. It was weird how the sentencing went as well. Kahlen had mention it was 80 years since she was 'reborn' and still had about 20 or so to go. That's 100 years of not speaking to any human, unless it's to sing for their death, and since we're on the topic, killing loads of people for the Ocean to eat. Kahlen of course then meets a boy whom she realizes that she may love and may want to live for. The Ocean doesn't like that and in a way, is jealous? Since it seemed that She only truly loved Kahlen out of all of Her sirens, which is interesting because the Ocean knows that if this boy sticks around She will lose the only one She truly cares about.

This book was so cool and new!! I had never read anything remotely close to this type of fantasy and just the plot line in general. I really liked how different it was and it was a nice, easy and fun break from all of the other YA paranormal book series there are today. Really starting to like Kiera Cass's work now!

Now, What I Thought:

Obviously, being a super fan of Tijan already I knew this book was going to be awesome! This book did not disappoint from the single first page, let me just tell you that. Jo, our main protagonist, was in trouble one night and for some mysterious reason Kian Maston, the golden boy loved by everyone, stopped the danger and landed himself in jail for murder. Everyone thinks it's actually Jo's fault that he was in jail for so long, until the day he comes out. With the huge news of the golden boy that saved a poor girl got released from jail, the main question on everyones mind is, where is Jo now? Well Jo is hiding with a different identity and a personal guardian around always. And I mean the whole shebang, different coloured hair, eyes and totally new name and background.

"I was a bad guy. I had done bad things but never to her. I wanted her to know that. She was the exception. She was the one, the only one, my soul would uphold above all else."

There is only one person that could potentially find Jo in her new identity and that's Kian. Little does anyone know from the media and even his family, Kian took an interest in ordinary little Jo and actually saved her because he cared, not because of 'same place same time' as said on the case. In this novel, Tijan takes us on a romantic and twisted ride through Jo and Kian's P.O.V while they make themselves back to each other and it was magical! Tijan always knows how to entertain her audience and this stand-alone was no difference.

Now, What I Thought:

I loved this depiction of Greek Mythology! For those who know me personally, you'll know that I love mythology, and it's always been a tie between Norse and Greek. So you can imagine my excitement when this book came out by the same author as Anna Dressed in Blood. I'm very excited to say that this novel was amazing, Blake has a way of writing that is so descriptive. I can just remember the first couple of pages and how I knew right away that this was going to be a great book.

This novel is about the fight that the Gods and Goddesses never thought they'd be fighting- losing their immortality. The thing is that you'll probably need some pre-knowledge for this book, I will say. For example, you should brush up on your facts about the Trojan War, Odyssey, and Troy. Those are talked about in this book, and obviously in their own fictional depiction but still Blake uses a startling amount of accuracy. There are moments in the novel where you'll have to think back to High school english or College English and remember the relations these Gods and Goddesses have, and what their most known for. For example, Athena, our main protagonist, is the 'virgin' Goddess and cherishes Owls. Just stuff like that and you should be fine with fully comprehending and understand what is happening or rather, why it's happening. Blake does do a great job at explaining past events and the characters, which I do appreciate.

Get ready for graphic descriptions haha. I mean, Athena is pulling blood- covered feathers out of her own throat so... It is so much fun to read about the feud between Athena and Hera, her father's wife. It's pretty crazy what these Ancient Olympians will do to prolong their lives. Poseidon probably surprised me the most with his feral actions.

Anyways, this book is pretty interesting and I definitely loved the Greek Mythology knowledge we got from it. Definitely a staple in someones reading collection that loves mythology and just learning about it. Blake did a great job with this novel and her depiction of myths and legends.

Now, What I Thought:

Wow, 20 years in the future and now we have America and Maxon's daughter, Eadlyn. Clearly the name choices haven't gotten better, I mean you have Eadlyn, Henri, Ean, Kile, Ahren, Aspen and plenty more weirdly spelled names haha. As much as the concept of this novel is pretty dumb and over-exhausted, Keira Cass just has such an addictive way of writing that you can't put the book down! I loved the Selection series, where we were reading through America's P.O.V., but to add on her daughter's experience with this stupid competition.. I don't know, I really didn't think it was going to work. But like I said before, it was super addictive and I actually read it in one sitting. I think just the idea of a bunch of guys fighting for this one girl's attention was so juicy that we had to read and actually like it. If I hadn't said before I'll say it now, I really did like this book, and I'm super excited for the next in Eadlyn's P.O.V.

Eadlyn, to say the least, was and still is a brat. She's a bratty little snob and know-it-all. Sorry but it's true and many would agree. I did however like the storyline, surprisingly. Again, something about all these men fighting for her hand in marriage is so juicy and I think we all just covet her secretly. It also doesn't help that these guys are supposedly attractive, smart, foreign, and you name it. I'm pretty sure by the end of the book I knew who she would ultimately end up with because it's pretty obvious. As for America..... she definitely changed I found, maybe because of the crown or power but she was just not the same. Maxon however, really impressed me when he was in 'daddy mode.' I liked how he took charge of things and actually listened to his daughter and spoke to her to make sure she was alright with his, being as he had to go through it once before.

Anyways, I'm really excited for the next book to come out and I'll be counting down the days to read it! It was an interesting enough story and really addictive. Hope the next one is even better!!!

Now, What I Thought:

This was such a cool concept. I'v always had a burning interest in angel/demon books and just adding gargoyles made it even better! I was pretty into this book, I couldn't put it down and had finished it in one go. Poor Layla, can't be kissed because she literally has the kiss of death. It's pretty obvious the desire Zayne holds for her, which just made it 10x more frustrating at how blind Layla was. You know, I'll admit, I think I'm team Zayne, something about him just makes me love him better than Roth! I mean, don't get me wrong, Roth is hella sexy and so raw in power, it's exhilarating to read, but.... Zayne is also powerful and smart and just.. angel like? Definitely more my type -insert heart eyes-!

I liked that Armentrout wasn't afraid to bring in mythology to the story and plot. We heavily get into some hell-related mythology which was great. While, this story was romance-based, I did like the other stuff too. Her friends, the inside Warden drama, and Layla's dilemma. Layla wasn't the typical strong, fearless and ruthless character that I usually prefer but I did like that her ultimate priority and nature was saving the people she cared about and just good-heartedly trying to help everyone and anyone.

Some of the characters weren't my favourite like, Stacey, who was way too portrayed as the 'slut' and the 'wild' one of the friendship between her and Layla. Also, Danika. I mean, Layla doesn't act too nice to her but come on.. being a Zayne lover myself, lets not have Danika in the picture please. I found it weird how I kind of ?liked? Petr and that unnecessary drama. Obviously we find out why he's needed in the series but for spoilers sake, I won't say. Petr was a good distraction from the whole Zayne/Roth love drama. One thing I didn't really understand about the plot was that humans very well knew gargoyles existed but.. how and why? It's almost as if everyone in the world has this, 'so what?' kind of attitude towards it, which I don't get considering usually people would be making it national news and freaking the hell out.

The book was enjoyable but only for a light reading. If you were wanting to read this for an in-depth plot masterpiece, unfortunately you won't find it here. It was still good, and I did read the next one :)

Now, What I Thought:

This was so cool! I couldn't believe how interesting ghosts and a possessed 12 year old can be. This was my first book I've ever read from Katie Alender and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. It was a cool concept and was written very nicely and well-paced. Everything happened at a perfect time, and I never once got bored. So, Alexis is the typical outsider in school, she wears her own fashion, has different coloured hair and what not. Basically, she doesn't care what anyone thinks, especially the mean cheerleaders. Her little sister now, Kasey, just wants fit in. She's best friends with the ever so mean cheerleader's little sister... until Kasey breaks her arm. I mean just from the synopsis, how Kasey's eyes turn green, she's talking in 18th century language and she is loosing her memory... it's pretty clear that Kasey is possessed. It also doesn't help that Kasey has a strange obsession with dolls, like her whole room has shelves after shelves of dolls just sitting.. staring.. yikes. Alexis, being a normal yet dysfunctional teenager doesn't want to believe anything's wrong with her sister but when dangerous and violent things start happening in her home and to her family, she cant keep overlooking the strange things Kasey does anymore.

This book, to say the least, was... creepy. It definitely had that creepy, ghost, chill factor. Very paranormal and even has romance in it. I loved the events adding up to the end, they were creepy and Kasey especially was creepy. She did a lot of horrible things, to her friends, her family and finally at the end, to her sister. It's gong to be interesting to read how the real Kasey is going to live on seeing as I'm sure she can remember everything she's done, or at least be told. After all, she is just a 12 years old girl. I really can't wait to read and review the next book in this series, and see how Alender can create even more creepiness.

Now, What I Thought:

This was a mix between Throne of Glass and Game of Thrones. This book was a huge hit! I couldn't not read it, it was a really cool concept on this whole fae fantasy genre. So in this world, the humans and fae share the land, but there's a magical wall dividing them. The humans are aware of the existence of the faeries, but they're dangerous and murderous if given the chance. It was said that a long time ago, they would take humans as slaves but now there are laws against that, except for those few fae that go through the wall for any reason. Well, Feyre was out hunting, pretty close to the wall and did end up killing a fae, which is illegal and punishable by death.

It's crazy to think of the dynamic in Feyre's home life. Feyre is the youngest sister out of 2, and they live with their crippled father. The 2 sisters were ridiculous! They were the eldest yet it was Feyre that had to do all the hunting, find the food or else they'd all starve. Also, not to mention that the dad just sits around and does nothing about the unnecessary responsibility put on Feyre. And they even have the balls to complain to Feyre about food, and living conditions... excuse me? Im going to kill these girls. So, Feyre being pretty freaked out about killing a fae, brings it home and as they're eating, which everyone isn't even that grateful for that Feyre busted her ass for it, a very angry, and seemingly powerful fae barges in. This doesn't happen. Fae do and can go outside the walls but are never seen in public. Immediately Feyre knew he was looking for her. SO... what do the sisters and father do? GIVE UP FEYRE TO SAVE THEIR OWN ASSES. Oh my god, I can not tell you guys how much hatred and anger I felt towards that whole family.

SO finally, Tamlin, the big fae, takes Feyre away from her family, thank the Lord. Anything is better than that family. This is when Beauty and the Beast comes into play. The beast takes the beauty away to live with him and in his world. Exactly said, that is what happens. Feyre now has to adjust to court in fae land, while being the only human. Not very safe for poor, yet strong Feyre. Now, there is the romance part of the novel. Tamlin and Feyre have a pretty good relationship considering she killed one of his trusted followers. Tamlin then, as expected, starts to court her pretty formally. Excepppptt for the fact that Feyre keeps shutting him down. LOL that is where the humour comes in, she was not having any of it, she had more important things on her mind, like her safety and family. Now, onto the the other 'ship', Rhysand. There is a lot of controversy about Rhysand and Feyre. He does save Feyre and he's pretty charming but that changes quickly considering he is a fae true to the heart and he does remind me a little of Rumplestilskin. He does do nice things and he does take care of her while she's in court buuut there are circumstances that makes him nor good nor evil. I don't know who I ship Feyre more with because if she can change Rhysand's ways then that'd be a great arc for that character, yet Tamlin is just strong and dreamy and the original 'beast'. Who knows...

This was an interesting read and I can't wait for the next book to see where Maas goes with this storyline!!

Now, What I Thought:

This book was right up my ally! You guys know how much I love the evil, dark, female characters in books. Cas Lowood is basically the new and improved cool ghostbuster, in modern day. At first I mean, how serious can this book be with a ghost hunter traveling across the country with his witchy mom and weird cat? Little did I know that this was going to be a gruesome, dark twisted story about Anna, whom is literally dressed in blood; the title and cover don't lie to you! Come on, the ratings and reviews can talk for themselves, this is Kendare Blake's most reviewed and rated best-seller worthy book! So if you haven't read it yet? Read it. You won't regret it.

Cas had been killing since he was 14! 14!!! That's a crazy childhood to have and to then top it all off, his father dies. Well, Cass makes his dad proud by inheriting the hunter's mysterious and dangerous athame, and he goes to town finishing what his father had started. Until, he meets Anna. Never has he encountered nor heard of a spirit so powerful and angry. Anna was killed in 1958. While walking to prom in her beautiful white dress, her throat was slit, blood covered her body entirely, thus earning her the name, Anna Dressed in Blood. It's described in the novel as:

"Someone cut her throat, but that’s an understatement. Someone nearly cut her head clean off. They say she was wearing a white party dress, and when they found her, the whole thing was stained red. That’s why they call her Anna Dressed in Blood."

Pretty gruesome and frightening stuff. I'd be pretty angry too with what Anna had to really go through that night. This was an interesting book because we didn't only get to read and learn about Cas, being our protagonist. Instead, we also got to learn a lot about Anna; her background, past, personality, why she is the way she is. It was said in the novel that she had been tied to her house and has never been able to step a foot past her front porch. Being as this is a legend and known to the townspeople, many have tried to check it out for silly pranks, and only 27 have gone in, and have never been seen alive again. I loved her character because she wasn't black and white, she was a gruesome killer yet a victim at the same time, evil yet innocent. It really put things into perspective about morality and I loved how Cas handled the situation. Also, there is a huge twist at the end about the real reason why Anna died, and it puts a whole new meaning on cruel and thriller.

This book is actually in talks about being turned into a movie!!! And the director being the one and only.... Stephenie Meyer.... this should be interesting. Though i'm still excited!

Now, What I Thought:

Not sure if I like this book cover as much as the others but it's not the ugliest I've seen. This book was pretty funny, and sassy I will admit (I know Katy has been taken and being tortured, but after the fact). Also, I loved the fact that Katy is literally in Area 51. That's so awesome, pretty cool. Blake gets his fate and Katy does something that honestly, he deserves. The big fight for Daemon is to get Katy back and sure enough he does everything in his power, kills everyone within reach, and rest assured, does get to see Katy. Also, we get introduced to Archer, the mysterious guard that makes sure Katy doesn't leave her cell. Archer turns out to be pretty important to the plot so stay tuned to that.

We get to finally see the Origins, and how they act and what exactly they are. They are creepy and scary and Katy is scared of them, like everyone should be. I HATE how petty Dee was being, the fact she seriously didn't try to save Katy, bitch move. Katy becomes ruthless in this novel and she really comes into her skin and realizes the stakes are high and there's no more time for games anymore. From the beginning of the book to the end, it was action packed and I found this book the best in the series by far. Obsidian was great for sure, but Origin really pulled my strings with the race to survive.

We get to go into Las Vegas, and theres a huge battle, which was really awesome because I felt so exhausted after reading that whole scene just by how action-packed it was. We actually travel a lot in this book, first Area 51, then Las Vegas, and finally Idaho where I assume will be the setting for the last and final book, Opposition. I cant wait to see what Armentrout does with the last book and how she's going to wrap it up!
